“It is difficult to imagine that the country’s key energy company has been brought to such a situation that it is necessary to form a government commission with emergency powers … to try and put its finances in order,” Tymoshenko told reporters after a meeting with Oleg Dubina, the company’s new chairman. “We will prevent any irregularity and will be doing everything to prevent any instability being felt either in Europe or Ukraine,” she was quoted by Interfax news agency as saying. Tymoshenko also accused the Swiss-registered trader UkrGaz-Energo of “a large shady and corrupt mediator that Ukraine doesn’t need” and vowed to get rid of it. “All our steps will be absolutely well-considered, we won’t take a single step to destabilize the situation on the gas market,” she added.
