According to a statement released by Hungarian police, the suspect, known online as “archie147”, was apprehended on February 6 in a joint operation between Hungary’s National Bureau of Investigation’s (KR NNI) Cybercrime Division and Berlin’s LKA police unit.
Authorities launched an investigation after images surfaced on the Motherless.com website depicting Hungarian women with graphic, violent alterations, accompanied by threats and violent fantasies in the comment sections.
Hungarian news website Telex notes that the case sparked public outrage last summer when it was discovered that numerous unauthorized images of Hungarian women, including nude photos and pictures lifted from social media, had been uploaded to the platform. These images, which have since been removed from the site, were accompanied by comments detailing extreme forms of sexual violence and murder fantasies.
Coordinated International Investigation Leads to Arrest
Following a months-long investigation, cybercrime officers gathered intelligence suggesting that the images had been uploaded from Berlin. Hungarian authorities then coordinated with their German counterparts, leading to the suspect’s arrest.
During the raid on his Berlin residence, police seized multiple electronic devices, including mobile phones, CDs, memory cards, digital cameras, e-books, printed photos, and notebooks. Additionally, a hidden compartment behind the kitchen sink was discovered with the help of a specially trained search dog, revealing more devices.
The suspect was taken into custody and interrogated as a suspect for unauthorized handling of personal data and abuse of personal information. Investigators are now analyzing the seized materials as part of the ongoing case.
