Businesses can receive a maximum of EUR 6,000 (more than HUF 2 million) from the SME fund of the European Commission to obtain patents, trademark and design protections, according to a report by hrportal.hu.

The support can also be used for community plant variety protections, the National Intellectual Property Office (SzTNH) said earlier this week.

This year, the tender framework supporting the partial financing of fees related to obtaining protection is EUR 20 mln (almost HUF 8 billion), and SMEs registered in the EU can apply until the funds are exhausted or until Dec. 6.

The Intellectual Property Office of the European Union is responsible for the implementation of the fund, the SzTNH wrote.
