Jüllich Glas Solar to quadruple production
Hungarian-owned Jüllich Glas glass making company expects its production to quadruple as a result of growing global demand for solar panels, one of its key products, the company announced today.
Founded in 1984 and located in Székesfehérvár (60 km south of Budapest), Jüllich Glas produces panels made of silicon crystals, a product very much in demand. Despite the arrival of Chinese solar panels on the European market, European producers remain competitive and deliver high quality panels, head of Jüllich Glas’ solar branch Donát Warvasovszky said.
The company has invested HUF 800 mln in a R&D project and is now using solar cells that are integrated into glass. It produces about 25,000 solar panels daily and employs 40 people. Its annual revenue reaches HUF 1.2 bln.
Jüllich Glas currently concentrates on household-sized mini plants, a popular product. Demand will stay high because current regulations are favorable for such decentralized energy production, the firm reckons.
