Government

Hungary's government will call a HUF 40 billion tender next January to support organic farming, Minister of Agriculture István Nagy said, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

Nagy said encouraging organic farming and expanding the areas covered by organic farming was a priority. Support amounts will increase by an average of 74% compared to the past, he added.

Between 2010 and 2020 the size of land under organic farming in Hungary increased almost two and a half times, currently organic production takes place on about 300,000 hectares, the minister said.
