Hungary's government has earmarked funding to plan and build 850 km of cycle paths, state secretary Tamás Schanda said in a post on Facebook on Wednesday.

Close to HUF 13.5 bln will go toward a cycle path connecting the capital with Lake Balaton, and more than HUF 4.9bn will be used for upgrades of some 200 km cycle path around the "Hungarian Sea", Schanda said.

A number of stretches on the EuroVelo 6 cycle path, along the Danube, will also be renovated, he added.
