Hungary's agriculture ministry has awarded 1,457 food industry companies HUF 6.8 billion in support to preserve jobs, Minister of Agriculture István Nagy said in Lipót (145 km northwest of Budapest).
Big companies awarded the grants were required to make food donations equivalent to 10% of the support received to people in need, Nagy said. József Péter Tóth, who owns the Lipóti bakery businesses, based in Lipót, said his companies had been awarded HUF 42 million in subsidies and is donating a little more than HUF 4 mln worth of its products to charity.
