Péter Márki-Zay, the opposition's candidate for prime minister, has tested positive for COVID-19, according to a report by Telex.hu.

Márki-Zay has already been vaccinated thrice against COVID. He decided to get tested after having a sore throat this morning.

According to a Facebook post by the politician, he currently has mild symptoms. He wrote that he was doing fine yesterday, and even had his temperature taken without any problems on Tuesday evening before walking into ATV's studio for an interview.

"I have canceled all external programs, quarantined myself, and will continue to work from home, working for a change of government," he said, adding that he hopes to test negative in five days so that he could continue his cross-country tour.

Producing journalism that is worthy of the name is a costly business. For 27 years, the publishers, editors and reporters of the Budapest Business Journal have striven to bring you business news that works, information that you can trust, that is factual, accurate and presented without fear or favor.

We would like to offer that same opportunity to our readers. We would like to invite you to help us deliver the quality business journalism you require. Hit our Support the BBJ button and you can choose the how much and how often you send us your contributions.
