Serbia Inflation Rate Falls on Year in January

Serbia's consumer prices rose by 6.4% year-on-year in January, after increasing by an annual 7.6% in December, the Belgrade-based Central Statistical Office (RBS) said on Monday.
Cost eased for food & non-alcoholic beverages (7.2% vs 8.4% in December), housing & utilities (8.4% vs 11.6%), alcoholic beverages & tobacco (6.4% vs 8.8%), communication (0.9% vs 1%), recreation & culture (8.6% vs 9.1%), miscellaneous goods & services (4.1% vs 6.7%), furniture & household equipment (8.2% vs 9.4%), clothing & footwear (7.4% vs 8.8%), restaurant & hotels (9.6% vs 9.7%) and education (3.8% vs 3.9%).
On the other hand, prices advanced faster for transport (1.9% vs 1.1%) and health (9.7% vs 9.2%). On a monthly comparison basis, consumer prices went up 0.3%, following a 0.1% increase in December.
