Poland Inflation Rate at 3-year Low in February

Poland's annual inflation rate fell to 2.8% in February, from a downwardly revised 3.7% in the previous month, data from the Warsaw-based Central Statistical Office (GUS) showed on Friday.

This was the lowest reading since February 2021.

Prices for food & non-alcoholic beverages rose 2.7%, the same for alcoholic beverages & tobacco went up 6.7%. Prices for clothing & footwear added 2.6%, and prices for housing & utilities advanced 1.1%.

Additionally, prices increased for; furnishings, household equipment & maintenance by 4%, communication by 3.5%, recreation & culture by 4.4%, education by 9.2%, restaurants & hotels by 8.9%, and miscellaneous goods & services by 6.7% and health by 4.5%. On the other hand, transport costs decreased 4%.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.3% in February, following a 0.4% advance in the prior month.
