In the first week of its availability, more than 7,000 Hungarians have applied for over HUF 1.5 billion of combined one-off payments the government is providing in professions hit hardest by pandemic restrictions, state secretary for employment policy Sándor Bodó said on Wednesday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

The HUF 219,000 payment, equivalent to one month's minimum wage, is available for 56 professions like hairdressers, cosmeticians, tour guides, and driving instructors. The government estimates the measures could impact 100,000-120,000 people.

The one-off payments are also available to professionals who have temporarily suspended their business or for those working two jobs at the same time, or for pensioners registered as self-employed workers.
