Consumer prices decelerated for food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.7% vs 2.6% in November), housing and utilities (5.6% vs 7%), and restaurants and hotels (13.2% vs 15.3%).

On the other hand, inflation picked up for transportation (1.6% vs 1%) amid volatile gasoline prices.

Month-on-month consumer prices declined by 0.5%. It was the third straight period of monthly deflation.
