Media Ad Spending in Hungary Rises to HUF 351 bln in 2023

Spending on media advertising in Hungary climbed 11% to HUF 351 bln last year, the Hungarian Advertising Association (MRSZ) said on Wednesday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

Spending on digital ads reached nearly HUF 183 bln, a little more than half of the total. That spending included HUF 62 bln on local digital and HUF 120 bln on global digital media.

Spending on TV ads increased 9% to HUF 81 bln. Ad spending in printed media was practically flat at HUF 38 bln.

Spending on outdoor advertising climbed 20% to HUF 32 bln. Spending on radio spots increased 17% to HUF 15 bln and spending on cinema advertising rose 24% to HUF 3.4 bln.

Spending on communications, including PR, events, direct marketing, marketing research and ambient advertising, increased 13% to HUF 649 bln in 2023.

MRSZ estimated that over 114,000 people work in communications in Hungary.
