Latvia Producer Prices Fall Further on Year in January

Producer prices in Latvia declined 8.1% year-on-year in January, falling for the seventh consecutive month, after an 11.3% drop in December, data from the Riga-based Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) showed on Wednesday.

Downward pressure came from prices of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (-20.6%) and manufacturing (-5.8%) while cost rose for water supply, sewerage and waste management (4%) and mining and quarrying (0.3%).

On a monthly basis, producer prices went up 0.5%, the first increase in four months, following a 0.8% drop in December.

Prices of water supply, sewerage and waste management recorded the biggest gain of 4.5%.
