Insurers' Premiums Revenue Climbs 5% in 2023

Revenue from premiums of members of the Association of Hungarian Insurance Companies (Mabisz) rose 5% to HUF 1.56 tln last year, Mabisz chairman Mihály Erdős said on Thursday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

Revenue from premiums on general insurance policies rose 12.8% to HUF 957 bln and revenue from premiums on life insurance policies fell 5.4pc to HUF 606 bln, Erdős said.

Mabisz members paid close to HUF 123 bln of sectoral taxes in 2023, and their windfall profit tax payments reached HUF 88 bln, he added.

Mabisz members account for over 90% of the insurance market.
