The Czech Republic's industrial producer price inflation rose further to the highest level in four months, figures from the Prague-based Czech Statistical Office (CZSO) showed on Wednesday.

The industrial producer price index (PPI) climbed 1.4% year-on-year in December, faster than the 0.8% increase in the previous month. It was the highest reading since August, as prices rose further for mining and quarrying (40.5% vs 39.7% in November), due to higher costs of coal and lignite, crude petroleum, and natural gas.

Meanwhile, prices in the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning segments rose at a slower rate of 6.3% (vs 9%) and prices continued to decline for manufacturing (-1.4% vs -2.5%).

On a monthly basis, producer prices dropped 0.5% in December, versus an expected fall of 0.2%.
