Croatia Jobless Rate at 10-month High in December

Croatia's unemployment rate increased to 6.5% in December from 6.4% in the previous month, the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (Crostat) said in a statement.

It was the highest jobless rate since last March, as the number of unemployed persons grew 1.5% month-over-month to a ten-month high of 114,982. Meanwhile, the number of employed persons fell by 0.2% to 1.65 million, and the size of the labor force decreased by 0.1% to 1.77 million. In December 2022, the jobless rate was higher at 6.8%.

In another report, the Zagreb-based statistics agency said that Croatia's average net monthly wage totaled EUR 1,208 in November, up 9.8% on the year in real terms. In October, the average net monthly salary was 8.3% higher year-on-year in real terms.  

On a monthly comparison basis, the average net monthly wage in November was 2.6% higher in real terms, after it rose 1.4% in October.

The average gross monthly salary amounted to EUR 1,679 in November, up by a real 12% ye ar-on-year and higher by 3.1% on the month, data showed.
