Bulgaria's Inflation Rate Accelerates Further in August

The annual inflation rate in Bulgaria accelerated to 17.7% in August, from 17.3% in the prior month, figures from the Sofia-based National Statistical Institute (NSI) showed on Wednesday.

Prices advanced faster for food & non-alcoholic beverages (24.1% vs. 23.8% in July) and housing & utilities (26.8% vs. 18.5%).

Meanwhile, the cost for transport slowed (22.8% vs. 37.5%).

On a monthly comparison basis, consumer prices increased by 1.2%, following a 1.1% rise in the previous month.
