Nearly three-quarters of Hungarians have home insurance policies, around two-thirds have mandatory vehicle insurance policies, and 48% have life insurance, the Hungarian Insurers Association said on Friday, based on its insurance confidence index (BIBIX) survey, according to penzcentrum.hu.

In 2021 there was a slight decrease in the population's insurance coverage, with some modifying their mandatory vehicle policies and others tapping into their savings insurances.

Around half of Hungarians spend less than HUF 10,000 a month on insurance policies, some 18.5% spend HUF 10,000-20,000, a little less than 12% spend more than that, and 17.5% do not pay anything at all.

On average, Hungarians have three different insurance policies.

On a scale of 0 to 100, they give 80.8 points when asked about their satisfaction with insurers.
