Origo.hu reported yesterday that the Jüdische Allgemeine article contained the following statement attributed to Nemes regarding his impressions of Hungary: “Many would like it if the concentration camps opened again, not today, but yesterday.”
A spokesperson for the film sent a statement to origo.hu shortly thereafter, denying that any such statements were made by the director – and that the film company would launch the necessary legal action against the German daily, origo.hu reported. One of the film’s producers, Gábor Sipos reportedly contacted the daily yesterday to request that they remove all statements not made by Nemes.
