Hungary’s Competition Office (GVH) on Friday said it made unannounced on-site investigations at the bases of two publishers of regional papers: Axel Springer-Magyarország and Inform Media on September 19.

Data obtained by GVH suggest the companies were engaged in price-fixing activity. GVH said it was launching a procedure against the two companies as well as against Lapcom Lapkiadó és Nyomdaipari and Pannon Lapok Társasága in the case.

GVH has six months to take a decision on the case but may extend the deadline twice, by six month each time.

The investigations do not mean the companies have broken anti-trust laws, GVH said.
