Business sentiment improves, chamber survey shows

The business confidence index of the Economic Research Institute (GVI) of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MKIK) rose to +16 points in January from +10 points in October, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

The sub-index for the construction sector rose 17 points to +22 and the one for the manufacturing sector increased 8 points to +20. In commerce, the indicator climbed 9 points to +18, while the gauge among business services companies was flat at +8.

GVI surveyed 349 managers to compile the index.
