OTP Bank SZÉP card holdersʼ summer spending using vouchers rose 15% to HUF 23 bln. The more than 900,000 OTP SZÉP card holders received top-ups of HUF 48.5 bln, which is also 15% more than in the same period a year earlier, the lender said.

The almost 125,000 holders of K&H Bank SZÉP cards were used for 20% more debits in the summer. Top-ups rose at the same pace as did the number of holders, the bank said. MKB Bank SZÉP card spending rose almost 11% to HUF 4.1 bln in the summer.

Top-ups climbed to HUF 3 bln in June-August from HUF 2.4 bln a year earlier. The three banks are the only issuers in Hungaryʼs unified recreational voucher system, introduced several years ago. The vouchers can be given to employees and are taxed at a lower rate than regular salary.
