Offering of Hungarian craft brewers richer
Hungarian craft brewers are offering a wider variety of beers, but their market share, in volume terms, is still only a tiny 0.2%, György Vaskó, who heads the Microbreweries Association, told MTI.
Vaskó could not give an estimate of turnover of microbreweries, but he said the excise tax they paid was halved last year from the a little more than HUF 100 million in 2010 as a result of government measures to assist small businesses.
A craft brewer usually does not make more than 20,000 hectoliters of beer a year.
Hungary's big commercial breweries turn out about 6 million hectoliters of product a year.
