National Instruments to install HUF 30 bln worth of high-end technology

The local unit of U.S. measurement and automation company National Instruments (NI) will install HUF 30 billion in high-end technology at its manufacturing base in Debrecen, CFO and Executive Vice President of NI Alex Davern said today, according to Hungarian news agency MTI.
Following the development, NI Hungary is expected to become a market leader in the development and manufacturing of systems testing Near Field Communication (NFC) technology for electronics manufacturers, Davern said.
According to Davern, the Debrecen unit has grown into a genuine knowledge center in the past 15 years. The plant manufactures cards that provide connections between computers and various measurement instruments on seven production lines, and employs 1,100 workers including 750 university graduates, he said. The companyʼs 120-strong business service center provides services in 20 different languages, he added.
Debrecen mayor László Papp announced the launch of a joint scholarship program with the IT department of the University of Debrecen, which will secure the supply of a highly qualified workforce in the long term.
Managing director of NI Hungary, László Ábrahám said the new technology purchased from a foreign startup company, is expected to operate at full capacity by the beginning of 2017.
NI Hungary had revenue of HUF 160 bln in 2015, he added.
