KSH: Hungary’s retail sales up 5.5% in March

The volume of retail sales in Hungary increased 5.5% in March as compared to the same month a year earlier, according to raw data, the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH) said today.

Chiefly due to the Easter period, the volume of growth was 4.2%, according to calendar adjusted data. 

KSH data shows that adjusted for calendar effects, the volume of sales rose by 1.9% in specialized and non-specialized food shops, by 7.6% in non-food retail shops and by 5% in automotive fuel retailing.

In January–March 2016, the volume of sales – also according to calendar adjusted data – was 4.3% higher than in the corresponding period of the previous year, KSH said.
