KSH: Healthy increase in guest nights in Hungary

The Central Statistics Office (KSH) released figures on commercial accommodation in Hungary which showed a 6.2% increase year-on-year for July 2013; this follows rises of 13.7% and 3.8% y.o.y. in the previous two months.

KSH further reported that foreign visitors’ guest nights were up 4.7% and Hungarians’ guest nights increased 7.6% y.o.y. Revenue for the industry was up 12.0% y.o.y. to HUF 34.0 billion.

Room occupancy in hotels was 60% on average, an increase of 2.1% y.o.y. Spa hotels reported an “outstanding” occupancy rate of 73%, a mark similar to that posted by four- and five-star hotels (70%) in the peak-season period.

The most visitors came from, in order, Germany, Poland, Netherlands, Czech Republic, the UK and Austria.
