KSH: Guest nights up 4.8% in April in Hungary

The number of nights spent by foreign and domestic tourists increased in April by a year-on-year 2.5% and 7.9% respectively, with the guest turnover of accommodation establishments increasing by 4.8%, Hungary’s Central Statistics Office (KSH) reported today.

Foreign guests spent 1.19 million nights in accommodation establishments, with the number of arrivals and tourism nights increasing by 7.5% and 2.5% respectively, the office added.

KSH data suggest that the number of nights spent by tourists from the United States, Czech Republic and the United Kingdom grew significantly, by 21%, 18% and 15% respectively, with tourism from Italy and Austria growing more moderately at 7% and 1.1% respectively. The number of nights spent by tourists from Russia and Germany fell by 36% and 10%, respectively.

Domestic guests spent 793,000 tourism nights in accommodation establishments, with the number of arrivals and tourism nights increasing by 12% and 7.9%, respectively.
