Industrial output up 8% in March

Automotive

In March 2019, the volume of industrial output - both in raw terms and according to working day-adjusted figures - grew by 8.0% year-on-year, shows a first reading of data from the Central Statistical Office (KSH) released Wednesday.

The majority of manufacturing subsections contributed to the increase. The rate of growth accelerated in vehicle manufacturing, representing the largest weight, while it slackened somewhat in the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products. The manufacture of food products, beverages and tobacco rose at below the industrial average rate.

Industrial output in March – according to seasonally and working-day adjusted indices – was 1.0% above the level of the previous month.

Output was 6.2% higher in January-March 2019 than in the first three months of the previous year.

A second, more detailed estimate of industrial production data for March will be published by the KSH on May 14.
