IMF delegation to visit Hungary for regular review

History

A delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is set to visit Hungary this week to discuss macroeconomic developments over the past six months with government representatives.

Iryna Ivaschenko, head of IMF's Budapest office, said in December that the IMF delegation is scheduled to visit Hungary between January 16 and 28, but the visit would not target negotiations on a new loan, but it would serve as preparation for a country report on Hungary and as a review of the implementation of the 2008 loan agreement.
The last time the IMF issued a country report about Hungary was in January 2012. Since then, the IMF has sent a single delegation to Hungary, in July 2012, to hold formal talks on a loan agreement initiated by the Hungarian government.
