A total of 60 million holiday-themed chocolates could be turned out by the Hungarian plant of Nestlé in Diósgyőr, the company announced, according to reports. Approximately 90% of the factory’s winter output is exported to 24 countries globally.

Nearing the end of the year, the company sees production at the Hungarian plant, which employs a staff of 400, rising by an annual 13%, reaching almost 1,900 tons. The company has invested approximately HUF 1.9 billion in the plant in the past six years.

Turnover of the Hungarian sweets market, calculating by shelf prices, could reach HUF 200 bln this year, up by 5% compared to last year, Sándor Sánta, the head of the Association Of Hungarian Confectionery Manufacturers (Hunbisco), said at an event on Thursday, according to Hungarian news agency MTI.

During the one and a half months of the holiday season, turnover is nearly HUF 10 bln on the market and Hungarians purchase 650 tons of molded chocolate figurines and 3,500-4,000 tons of "szaloncukor," a traditional sweet in the country, MTI quoted Sánta as saying.
