Govʼt decides on developments in 440-450 villages

History

Hungaryʼs government took decisions on "economic development matters" affecting 440-450 villages at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in a weekly interview on public radio on Friday, state news wire MTI reports.

Orbán would not reveal any further information about the decisions as the details are still being worked out.

The developments will be undertaken in the framework of the governmentʼs recently launched Hungarian Villages program.

Orbán said the government also discussed a broad plan for improving the situation of Hungaryʼs Roma presented at the meeting by Zoltán Balog, the former human resources minister.

The convergence plan will touch on everything from housing to education, he said.

Details of the plan must be discussed "for at least one or two months", he added.
