Gyimóthy said talks with the municipalities have not yet started. PannErgy said it has established contact with about 50 local councils in Hungary on finding sites to build geothermal power plants and it has signed contracts already with 20. PannErgy recently said that combined investment cost of the projects could reach €500 million, up from €360 million announced last September.
PannErgy, formerly called Pannonplast, said in September it is partnering up with Iceland’s VGK-Honnun to undertake several geothermal energy projects in Hungary as part of its new strategy focusing on renewable energy. VGK-Honnun recently merged with another Icelandic company, Rafhonnun, under the name Mannvit Engineering. (MTI-Econews)
