A review of the Paks Nuclear Power Plant ordered by the National Atomic Energy Office (OAH) in light of experiences at the Fukushima plant in Japan show Hungary’s sole commercial source of nuclear power is well protected and in need of no immediate work, Paks spokesman Istvan Mittler told MTI on Monday.

No immediate intervention is necessary at the plant, the review submitted to OAH shows,  Mittler said. Technical measures could be taken to raise the level of safety at the plant, but these will be decided in the final report, he added.

Paks had until August 15 to submit the preliminary report to OAH. The final report is to be submitted on October 31.
