Finnish electronics company Elcoteq is expected to lay off 400-500 workers at its plant in Pécs (SW Hungary), fewer than the 680 reported earlier, regional daily Új Dunántúli Napló said on Tuesday.
News portal Pécsi STOP said in mid-July that the plant told the local labor office and unions that it would lay off 680 workers.
About 2,800 people work at the plant at present, down sharply from 7,000 before the crisis.
Elcoteq has been present in Hungary since 1998. It earlier operated three plants but now has just the one in Pécs.
