The Hungarian Energy Office (MEH) is currently assessing the planned Ft 100 billion-Ft 200 billion investment, for which it has a 120-day deadline to issue a permit. MEH is said to be happy with E.ON’s intention to build the plant, though the office would have preferred that the facility be powered by a source other than gas.
Company Court figures indicate that the E.ON parent company raised the capital of its Hungarian subsidiary by Ft 1.2 billion, though E.ON refused to comment on this matter. E.ON might have other development plans in the country as well: according to Napi Gazdaság, the company has concluded an agreement with the local council of Mohács, south Hungary to build a similar 400MW plant in the local industrial park.
E.ON said earlier it wanted to increase the number of its plants in Central and Eastern Europe.
