German carmaker Daimler‘s plant in Hungary is “full of orders” for next-generation compact models, Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary managing director Frank Klein said on Wednesday. Klein delivered a positive assessment of the plant’s first year in operation, noting that more than 3,000 Hungarians work there at present, but labor is still being recruited from the area surrounding the city of Kecskemét. Daimler inaugurated its €800 million plant in Kecskemet in March 2012. It launched production of next-generation compact models there, and started making the new CLA-Class in January. The plant is the only one to make the CLA-Class. Last year, the plant turned out 40,000 cars.
