Hungary's solar energy capacity has reached 5,649 MW, the Ministry of Energy Affairs said in a release on its website, citing preliminary data from transmission system operator Mavir.

That capacity includes 3,332 MW from solar parks and 2,317 MW from household solar panels. Around 1,632 MW was added to solar power capacity in 2023.

Additions at solar parks and on the roofs of homes were about the same.

Hungary's solar capacity is on track to reach 12 GW by 2030, double the earlier target, the ministry said.
