Investors have signaled their intent to build solar parks and wind farms with a capacity of over 10 GW, the Ministry of Energy Affairs said in a release on its website.

Investors already have permits to add 5 GW of solar capacity by the end of 2028, and they have indicated plans to build another 5 GW of capacity, the ministry said.

Investors also plan to develop 2.5 GW of wind farm capacity along with matching energy storage capacity, it added. The ministry noted that Hungary earlier raised its 2030 target for solar capacity from 6 GW to 12 GW.

Eased restrictions on the construction of wind farms in force from January could triple the current 330 MW capacity by 2030, the ministry said. Hungary's 20 MW of energy storage capacity could rise by a factor of 20 by 2026 and by a factor of 50 by 2030, it added.
