The European Investment Bank is providing a PLN 566 million (€140 million) loan to Elektrocieplownia Stalowa Wola for the construction of a combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power station in southeastern Poland. This highly efficient power plant, with a capacity of 450MWe and heating capacity of 240Mwth, will be built on an existing industrial site within the boundaries of the Stalowa Wola power plant. It will provide electricity to the grid and heat to neighboring towns as well as industrial off-takers. It is expected to become operational in the second half of 2015, the European Commission said in a press release on Monday. The EIB, the long-term lending institution of the European Union, promotes the development of sustainable, competitive and secure energy supplies.
