Hungary’s government declared investments related to the construction and operation of an interconnector between the gas networks of Hungary and Slovakia a priority matter at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, the National Economy Ministry said on Thursday.
Gas deliveries through the interconnector will start in January 2015.
The 20km of the pipeline in Slovakia will cost about €20m to build and the 95km on the Hungarian side will cost about €100m, Econews reported in January, when the inter-government agreement on its construction was signed.
Interconnectors already operate between gas networks in Hungary and Romania and Croatia.
