Decisions coordinated by HITA bring €421 mln in investments

Int’l Relations

The Hungarian Investment and Trade Agency (HITA) coordinated 21 positive decisions last year on investments worth €421 million by foreign companies, HITA head Erzsébet Dobos said at a press conference in Budapest on Thursday. The investments will result in the creation of 2,810 new jobs. Dobos said HITA's project management handled 89 investments last year, which could boost FDI in Hungary by €1.256 billion creating 15,000 new jobs if positive decisions are taken on the projects. State secretary for foreign affairs and external economic relations Péter Szijjártó said one-third of Hungarian exports should go to countries that are a focus of the government's “opening up to the East’ policy by 2018. At present, a little more than three-fourths of Hungarian exports go to other EU countries, and the rest go to non-EU states in Europe and countries on other continents, in equal part. HITA will continue to operate with a staff of 150, he added.

Producing journalism that is worthy of the name is a costly business. For 27 years, the publishers, editors and reporters of the Budapest Business Journal have striven to bring you business news that works, information that you can trust, that is factual, accurate and presented without fear or favor.
Newspaper organizations across the globe have struggled to find a business model that allows them to continue to excel, without compromising their ability to perform. Most recently, some have experimented with the idea of involving their most important stakeholders, their readers.
We would like to offer that same opportunity to our readers. We would like to invite you to help us deliver the quality business journalism you require. Hit our Support the BBJ button and you can choose the how much and how often you send us your contributions.
