Hungary Wheat Crop Over 5.9 mln Tonnes in 2023

Hungary's wheat crop reached 5,933,625 tonnes in 2023, a 36pc increase over the previous year's harvest when farmers were hit by drought, data released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) show.

The maize harvest reached 6,272,524 tonnes, more than double the 2,781,774 tonnes in 2022.

The sunflower seed harvest came to 1,955,797 tonnes, up 52pc, and the rapeseed harvest reached 618,524 tonnes, 23% more than in 2022.

Farmers harvested 833,696 tonnes of sugar beet, up 77%.
