Farmgate prices climb 24.9% in February
Farmgate prices in Hungary rose 24.9% in February from the same month a year earlier, state news wire MTI reports, citing data released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH).
The annual rate of price increases slowed from 29.7% in January. Farmgate prices have risen in the double digits every month since the start of 2021.
Crop prices increased 26.2% in February, as grain prices jumped 38.3% and industrial crop prices climbed 40.1%. Vegetable prices rose 14.5%, potato prices were up 23.1%, but fruit prices fell 18.7%.
Farmgate prices for live animals and animal products increased 21.5%, as prices for live animals rose 21.8% and animal products prices climbed 21.1%. The price of live poultry rose 30.4%, and hog prices rose 7.8%. The price of milk increased 22.5% and egg prices were up 10%.
