OTP’s Csányi still richest man in Hungary
Sándor Csányi, the proprietor of agribusiness Bonafarm and director of OTP Bank, still ranks as the richest man in Hungary, according to a list compiled by business news portal Napi.hu, which was published yesterday.
Csányi, whose assets amount to HUF 165 bln, HUF 15 bln more than last year, has been at the top of the list since 2011.
Runner-up is László Bige, owner of an artificial fertilizer business, with assets of HUF 160 bln, followed by Gábor Várszegi, who owns holding company Fotex and has assets of HUF 115 bln. Next on the list is construction industry magnate Sándor Demján, with assets of HUF 93 bln, and Gábor Széles, who owns original equipment manufacturer Videoton, and has assets of HUF 92 bln.
The personal wealth of last yearʼs third-richest Hungarian, György Gattyán, who made his fortune in online erotica, fell from HUF 135 bln to HUF 90 bln, after the tax office froze a portion of his assets preceding an audit, Napi.hu added.
