Wabererʼs seeking EUR 47.8 mln from vehicle maker cartel members
Hungarian road haulage company Wabererʼs on Tuesday announced the scale of damages it is seeking from members of a vehicle maker cartel in a Munich court, according to a report by Hungarian news agency MTI.
Wabererʼs is seeking EUR 47.8 million from the cartel members, including EUR 36.4 mln in damages and EUR 11.3 mln in interest.
Wabererʼs said in July 2017 that it was suing the cartel participants because it had leased and acquired "several thousand" vehicles from them since January 1997.
Wabererʼs noted at the time that the European Commission (EC) had levied a big fine on truck makers MAN, Volvo/Renault, Daimler, Iveco and DAF for cartel activity. The EC decision constitutes binding proof before national courts that the anti-competitive behavior took place and that it was illegal, it added.
