Tokaj Kereskedőház welcomes new CEO

Péter Szappanos has been appointed CEO of Hungarian state-owned winery Tokaj Kereskedőház, replacing Enikő Király Gaálné, who has held the position since February 1, according to an announcement issued today.
Szappanos has been with the company as a leading advisor for the strategic planning of the companyʼs renewal process since mid-April in 2014. Király Gaálné will return to her Commercial deputy-CEO position at the company.
Szappanos, an MBA graduate of Berkeley University in California, has worked for Raiffeisen International AG, OTP Bank and McKinsey&Company.
The new CEO’s main tasks will include strengthening the integrator role of Tokaj Kereskedőház in the region and winding up the refurbishments at the winery.
Tokaj Kereskedőház, as an integrator of the Tokaj Wine Region, purchases grapes from 1,600 farmers on 1,100 hectares, and owns 70 hectares of its own grown grapes. The renewal process and quality upgrade of the companyʼs wines began in 2013.
