The volume of retail sales in January rose 0.7% from December 2005 according to seasonally and workday-adjusted figures. January retail sales totaled Ft 375.279 billion (€1.422 billion) at current prices. In line with EU methodology, the figures do not include sales of vehicles, vehicle parts or fuel. Including these sales, total retail turnover rose 7.2% to Ft 520.888 billion in January 2006.
In 2005, retail sales volume rose 5.6% after a 5.7% rise in 2004.
