Retail sales volume was 6.6% higher in October than in the same month a year
earlier, according to calendar-adjusted figures published by the Central Statistics Office (KSH) on Wednesday. Retail sales volume in October rose 0.5% from September, according to seasonally and working day-adjusted figures. Retail sales volume in the first ten months of the year rose a calendar-adjusted 5.6%, compared to the same period in 2004.
In January-October, retail turnover was Ft 4,499.8bln (€17.9bn) at current prices. In line with EU statistics, the figures do not include sales of vehicles, vehicle parts or fuel. The adjusted 5.6% twelve-month increase of retail sales volume in October is well above the respective 0.4% rise in the eurozone
countries or the 1.4% increase in the EU-25.
Including fuel and vehicle sales, retail sales came to Ft 6,284.05bln in January-October, increasing 4.3% in volume terms from the same period a year earlier.
