AI in Private Healthcare: Doktor24 Partners With Startup

Doktor24 is introducing a technological innovation in patient care. A health assistant developed by Xund, a Hungarian-Austrian health digitalization startup, can analyze symptoms and check for suspected specific diseases on a single platform.
Doktor24 has incorporated the industry's first MDR-certified Category IIa medical device symptom and disease analysis system into its operations with Xund. The AI-based technology solution is a healthcare assistant that helps patients get guidance on their symptoms. This lets patients know what illness might be causing their symptoms immediately and be directed to the right medical specialty through Doctor24's appointment booking system.
"The health assistant is most useful for people experiencing initial symptoms and need guidance on what might be causing their problems and where to find help. It can also help patients who already have a hypothesis about a possible disease or have seen a doctor but want a second opinion," said Tamás Petrovics, co-founder and CEO of Xund, summarizing how the model works.
Like a medical consultation, the symptom analyst asks patients simple questions about their symptoms to identify possible causes. The system provides initial guidance and leads them to specific "solution" pathways. The disease checker function helps assess a particular disease's likelihood. At the end of both processes, patients receive an analysis of their condition, and Xund also points out likely alternative causes.

"Our NLP models can analyze millions of medical publications to find correlations between symptoms and diseases. All have 70% higher accuracy than OpenAI's GPT-4 in healthcare. This is the technological basis on which our system is built, which will now help Doktor24 patients find the best point of care for them," explained Tamás Petrovics, Xund co-founder and CEO.

"We've seen that many people need help knowing which medical specialty they should go to based on their symptoms. This is what Doktor24 is trying to facilitate with Xund. We hope that within a year, the number of patients we can help will increase to the thousands per month," said Róbert Lancz, CEO of Doktor24.
He added, "In the future, we want to integrate technology into the medical workflow. The symptom analyzer would perform a 'pre-diagnosis' of the patient and then make a preliminary diagnosis, thus helping doctors."
